CELEBRATION: Guardian University Awards 2013 – University of Wales TSD wins Best Sustainability Project award

1303-Guardian-WalesTSDThe University of Wales Trinity Saint David won the award for the Sustainability project in the inaugural Guardian University Awards at a ceremony in February 2013.

 

The victorious project, The Institute for Sustainable Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness (INSPIRE)  led by Jane Davidson (former Welsh Government Minister for Education and Environment), was launched in 2012 to embed sustainability across the institution through its curriculum, campus, community and culture with a view of producing globally aware and responsible graduates.

 

Leeds Metropolitan University was the runner-up in this category for its Zero Waste to Landfill project.

Jane Davidson to lead RCE Severn event on university sustainability

‘Putting Sustainability at the Heart of the University; a View from West Wales’, an event led by Jane Davidson, Director of INSPIRE, (Institute for Sustainability Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness), University of Wales Trinity Saint David, will take place at the University of Gloucestershire from 4.00 to 5.30pm on 9 May 2012. It is organised by RCE Severn (Regional Centre of Expertise on Sustainability Education).

University of Wales TSD launches INSPIRE

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has launched INSPIRE (Institute for Sustainable Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness) as part of its ‘fit for future’ framework which embeds Sustainable Development through the learning, teaching, curricula, campus, community and culture of Trinity Saint David. The institute is led by Jane Davidson, former Minister for Environment and Sustainability in the Welsh Government.

Eight universities take part in HEA’s ‘Green Academy: Curricula for tomorrow’

Higher Education Academy (HEA) launched in February 2011 a six-month programme, ‘Green Academy: Curricula for tomorrow,’ in association with the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and the National Union of Students (NUS), to assist universities in embedding sustainability across their curricula. Participants comprised teams from eight universities: University of Bristol, Canterbury Christ Church University, Keele University, University of Nottingham, University of Southampton, Swansea University, University of Wales (Trinity Saint David) and University of Worcester.
