The awards ceremony of Green Gown Awards 2013 will take place at Derby College on 12 November 2013. Hosted by Professor Iain Stewart MBE (Professor of Geosciences Communication at the University of Plymouth), the ceremony will announce the winners from the Finalists pool of 81 projects representing 53 institutions.
Organised by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), the Awards recognise annually the best sustainability practice within tertiary education in the UK, bringing together the sectors’ leaders, drivers and thinkers of sustainability.
Green Gown Awards 2013 comprise 14 categories:

- Carbon Reduction
- Construction and Refurbishment
- Continuous Improvement: Institutional Change
- Facilities and Services
- Learning and Skills
- Modernisation – Effectiveness and Efficiency in the Estate
- Promoting Positive Behaviour
- Research and Development
- Social Responsibility
- Student and Staff Engagement
- Sustainability Champion Award
- Technical Innovation for Sustainability
This year has three new categories, namely Sustainability Champion Award, Technical Innovation for Sustainability and Facilities and Services.
In parallel to the UK Awards, the Australasian Green Gown Awards are run by Australasia Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS). UK and Australasian winners will vie for international awards in three categories, namely Continuous Improvement, Social Responsibility and Student and Staff Engagement.
